About the District:
The Lawrence County Solid Waste Management District was established on March 26, 1991, to serve all of Lawrence County, including Bedford and Mitchell. In November of 1994 the Transfer Station was opened and in the fall of 1996 the drive-through recycling center opened in Bedford. Not long after, in June of 1997, the City of Bedford began the Curbside Recycling program.
The Solid Waste District now serves Lawrence County through its numerous locations including the Collection Stations, Transfer Station, Recycling Center, Compost Facility, and Refrigerant Facility.
